1st November 2018

Richard Milne was awarded a Wellcome Trust seed award in Humanities and Social Science for the project “An empirical ethics study of the development of data driven techniques for the assessment of cognition”. This study, funded over 18 months, will examine the social and ethical challenges associated with the development of data-driven tools to detect cognitive decline and dementia.  It will involve work with researchers in the public and private sectors, clinicians and members of the public to consider the implications of the application of machine learning techniques to diverse sources of data, many of which are not traditionally considered as ‘health data’.
